Product details

The kids in Bitville realize they need a tool to help them trade with each other. As they explore using different types of money, a strange boy moves to town and suggests a new idea...
Bitcoin Money is a story for all ages which helps answer the question “Why Bitcoin?”

Exerp from the book:
4. Printing
As time passed, and everyone in Bitville continued to use paper money, they almost forgot that there were metal coins in a safe at Benny's house.
The coins were the money which they originally picked for its good qualities; paper money was just a fill-in.
When summer came, Benny announced that he was going away to camp, but not to worry, his brother Freddy would be taking care of the safe for now.
Most kids didn’t even notice the change.
Freddy started off taking care of the metal coins just like his brother Benny. He would only give out as much paper money as he had coins in the safe.
But Freddy’s friend Kenny had different ideas.
Kenny saw how much everybody loved paper money. He thought to himself, “If people love paper money, and they use it to buy things and start businesses, then wouldn’t it be better if they had even more paper money?”
Kenny didn’t understand that paper money was just a fill-in for metal money, which was also just a fill-in for the work that people did in the first place.
You can print more money, but you can’t print more hard work. That takes time, effort, and energy.
Freddy and Kenny thought they were doing everybody a favour, and it helps that they also got to keep the first batch of freshly-printed paper money for themselves.

From the Author
Many have heard of the world's first decentralized digital currency, Bitcoin, but few understand how it works and why it was created.
In this short story, we explore the origins of money, the invention of Bitcoin, and the role it serves as sound, reliable money.
I believe that the key value of Bitcoin is its economic role, and so we focus on that aspect, as opposed to a detailed explanation of the technology behind it.
Although it appears as a simple children's story, I hope that this book can serve as an introduction to Bitcoin for people of all ages.
