5 Summer Grooming Tips For Men

Summer is finally here and as much as everyone loves summer, the constant heat and sunshine can be quite a pain. This is especially when you have to deal with oily skin, acne, limp hair, sweaty armpits and the like. Let’s face it, looking good on a hot summer day isn’t an easy task.

The easygoing summertime vibe can also mean the destruction of your everyday skin routines. During the sunny season your hair and face usually get oilier, faster. You’re also likely to sweat in places that you really didn’t know you could sweat. And with all the festivities going on, how are you even supposed to think about maintaining a beard?

If you, like any other men, are worried about facing the heat this summer, there’s no need to fear because help is at hand. Here are five easy summer grooming tips to help you look the part throughout the day.

Cleanse daily

A man’s skin is usually oilier by nature, so that means you’ll have to take extra care of it. In order to get rid of pollutants, start and end your day by cleansing your face. Doing it at least twice daily helps your face look fresh and makes it less prone to breakouts. Take a look at the composition of your cleansing products to ensure it’s the right ones for your face type. It’s best to use a gel face wash that is free of dyes, artificial fragrances, soaps and alcohol to ensure your skin doesn’t dry out.

Don’t skip the moisturising step

The hot weather doesn’t mean you shouldn’t moisturise your skin. It’s summer, so you won’t be using heavy winter creams, they’ll leave your skin greasy. Besides, those creams wipe right off with your sweat without protecting your skin. Instead, opt for moisturisers with light formulas that get easily absorbed into your skin. Make sure to keep it hydrated without giving you an oily shine.

Shampoo regularly

sYou should wash your hair twice or thrice weekly to get rid of the oil and dirt. If your scalp get excessively oily, it’s recommended to wash it every second day. Make sure you use the right type of shampoo and conditioner to ensure strong and healthy hair. It’s always clever to look for a two-in-one product that can act as both shampoo and conditioner, that way you’ll save time.

Keep your hair trimmed

Keeping your hair trimmed and neat is an easy way to look polished. If you have long hair, you have the option to tie them up when you feel the heat is getting to you. But it’s still important to take care of your locks. The same applies to your beard; too much facial hair can be quite a heavy task to manage during summer. Keep facial hair trimmed or go for a clean-shaven look this summer. However, you don’t want to over-shave as your skin will be putting up with a lot when temperatures rise. The last thing you want to do is damage it further by shaving every day. It’s recommended to shave twice a week and only trim when needed.

Apply sunscreen

Whether you’re off to work or the beach, don’t leave the house without applying sunscreen. The summer sun can be harsh, especially if you’re exposed to it more than usual. It can cause sunburn and give your skin a leathery appearance. It’s important to apply sunscreen 30 minutes before heading out in the sun. Re-apply every 2 hours as sunscreen tends to wear off easily. If you’re heading out to the beach or a pool, re-apply more frequently as you’ll be spending time in the water.

Don’t let dry skin and irritation get in the way of your awesome summer. And now that you have these easy tips to get you through the sunny season, nothing can stop you from having your share of fun!
