Easy Halloween Outfit Ideas 2018

It’s October so you know what that means right? Halloween is just around the corner y’all! With 13 days to go before the 31st of October, you have plenty time to put an outfit together. Stock up on your favourite horror films, take notes and don’t forget to have fun with it ─ it only comes around once a year.

What is Halloween about?

Our trusted source (Wikipedia) defines Halloween as:

…a celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day. It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed.

Activities on Halloween include trick-or-treating (aka grown up kids asking for candy on the street), dressing in cosplay and attending parties where other observers do the same, lighting bonfires, playing pranks on your peers, visiting or creating haunted attractions, telling scary stories and watching horror films. It’s a spooky business all-over!

What to wear on Halloween?

If you haven’t been planning this holiday months in advance like some people have done, then this question could be very stressful for you and we sympathise. Luckily, you have 13 days to spare and we are always happy to save the day and help in the fashion and makeup department. So let’s get to it, shall we? Here are some easy Halloween outfit ideas for you to try.

Dress up as your favourite Disney character

All you need is the right dress and a very stylish pair of shoes, just ask Cinderella. Channel Mrs Charming in a gorgeous powder blue gown and a pair of faux glass slippers this Halloween and we guarantee that the handsome (and hopefully, loaded) prince will follow.

We absolutely loved Angelina Jolie’s rendition of Maleficent. Black lace, leather and tulle made it a true gothic couture dream come to life. Splash on some bright red lippy and some patent accessories and pointy shoes to give it that extra ‘evil queen’ touch.

Dress up as your favourite Game of Thrones character

Gear up in your finest Westeros threads and draw inspiration from Daenerys’ handmaiden and trusted advisor, Missandei. This stunning leatherette bodycon will pair well with gold cuffs and gladiator sandals to nail the Game of Thrones look

Make Melisandre proud in a crimson gown befitting of the Red Queen. Accessorise your look with a statement choker and, if you’re feeling a little extra, opt to complete your look with a fur coat or thick shawl.

Dress up as your favourite superhero/villain

Halloween would not be the complete without a Storm by X-Men impression. Rent a white wig and tap into your inner bad b*tch ─ because we’re going full leather, baby! No self-respecting superhero can do without thigh high boots so you best secure a pair to match your outfit.

Poison Ivy remains one of the most underrated characters in the DC universe and that’s a crying shame, in our opinion (the only opinion that matters). Emulate your best version of her in a green bodysuit/one-piece and pair it with some tights and a red wig. For extra authenticity, create your very own accessories with faux ivy vines and get your hands on some green eyeshadow.

Dress up in your favourite era’s regalia

We all fell in love with the sheer romance and opulence that was The Great Gatsby, so dressing up as Daisy Buchanan seems like a no-brainer. Pile on the pearls, the sequins and break out on the champagne, it’s the roaring ‘20s all over again!

Another era we can’t seem to get enough of is the ‘70s. In fact, current fashion trends have shown that the ‘70s are making a comeback and we can’t be any happier for it. Be your boldest self in a foxy cat suit (jumpsuit) and remember ─ no bellbottom is too wide to shimmy into. Complete your outfit with a pair of platform boots and tease your hair ─ because the bigger the hair, the bigger the attitude.

Dress up your mini me

We haven’t forgotten about the little ones ─ they’re the real stars of the show, after all. Indulge your little girls’ fantasies by having her dress up as Elsa or Anna, or dress your little man in a wizard cape or king’s costume. The possibilities are endless (and oh-so cute!).
