My grooming with Zando

Skincare is quite possibly one of the most expensive necessities in life. From basic grooming products to tools for shaving, you could find yourself spending anything from R500 – R5000 per month on taking care of body’s largest organ. To help you cut down on that expense, make it a rule to drink a lot of water, try to avoid direct contact with sunlight (yes, I know, you’re not a vampire), get some physical exercise and try to avoid unhealthy foods and beverages.

But that’s not what I’m here for. I’m here to brag about my recent grooming purchase – Jimmy Choo MAN. Packaged in a silver crocodile skin box, Jimmy Choo’s first fragrance for men, Jimmy Choo MAN, is a dose of tropical spice. Initial bursts of earthy notes hint to a woody aroma tempered by doses of lavender for a soft floral scent. It lingers, giving you crispy notes of mandarin and some pineapple (my favourite).

Ideally, one is not meant to smell themselves. Your fragrance is meant to sit on your skin for a moment, pungent to your nose at first application, and then disappear into the background for the remainder of your day. Watch people’s reactions to your scent as the day goes by – the longer the day, with regular compliments, the more evolved and suited to your body your fragrance is. When buying a new scent, as irritating is this may be, test it on your wrists for the day. If you can smell it all day, it’s likely to react badly to your skin and will probably become acidic when you sweat (since the chemicals react with your body’s temperature and your skin’s pH level).

I recommend wearing your Jimmy Choo MAN on weekends when you’re out with the gents. Pair it with denims, possibly a leather jacket and definitely with a great pair of designer sneakers.

Let me know your thoughts on this new fragrance, and send me your favourite notes of your Zando-purchased fragrances.
