10 Hair Colour Trends That You Should Try in 2019

Everyone knows that the best way to reinvent yourself is to start from the top down ─ just ask Samson. Unlike cosmetics, changing your hair is a slightly more permanent approach to reincarnation, but it ultimately reaps better results.

It’s often said that there is no being on earth more powerful than a woman with a brand new hairdo ─ and we agree. With so many hair colour trends emerging, we won’t judge you if you’re tempted to try at least a few of the following styles.

Pastels

Faded Pastels

Ever since Lady Gaga graced the Grammy red carpet in that icy blue pastel gown and matching do, we’ve been dying to give it the proper shout-out it deserves and this is finally our moment. As no stranger to the unorthodox hair colour scene, Gaga opted for subtle hints of blue pastel mixed with silver strands rendered in a chic up-do and accessorised it with sparkling accessories ─ what a moment! Gaga isn’t the only one championing the trend though, Khloe Kardashian has also been experimenting with sugary sweet candy floss-hued blonde tresses on her IG earlier this year.

Living Coral

Pantone just declared this vibrant shade the 2019 colour of the year and it took very little time for the rest of the world to jump onto the wave. Its recent iterations in hair colour, being adopted by Julia Roberts, Hailey Baldwin and Busy Tonight’s host Busy Philipps to name a few.

Hollywood Opal

Similar to the whimsical unicorn dye jobs that were trending in 2017, Hollywood opals are feature a multitude of pastel shades mixed with a cool metallic blonde undertone (think old Hollywood meets Coachella). Seen on familiars like Kylie Jenner, Rita Ora and Christina Aguilera, pastel opals are set to be the biggest pastel hair colour trend of the year.

Blondes

Strawberry Blonde

Strawberry blonde strongly resembles Living Coral with the only noticeable difference being that it features stronger accents of auburn (Gingers, now is your time to shine!). Some of the notable celebs sporting this fiery hue are Deborah Ann Woll and Madelaine Petsch from Riverdale.

Honey-Golden Blonde

If you’re looking for a slight change but you’re not entirely sure what’ll suit, honey golden-blonde is the answer. Universally flattering on all skin tones and hair lengths, this hair colour’s upkeep requires very little and its all-year appropriate. Vamp up your blonde tresses with coppery hints and warmer blonde tones at the tips to nail this look.

Iced Caramel Latte

There’s a general unspoken rule that colder seasons are reserved for darker hair. With that being said, blondes needn’t worry too much or reach for the black hair dye just yet. This year, we’re bringing back icy blonde tips blended into dark blonde-almost-brown strands. (We’ve officially dubbed this one ‘bronde’). Commonly spotted on your favourite LA bloggers and models, this style is relatively easy to maintain and the end result resembles a yummy cup of your favourite blend.

Brunettes

Rose Brown

As much as you’d like to think it’ll date, rose gold won’t ever go out of style ─ it simply just updates every year. Last year, rose gold hair was all the rage and so many blondes hopped onto that trend bandwagon with little resistance. This year we’re giving brunettes a chance in the spotlight with rose-brown hair. Rose-tinted brown strands have slowly been making the headlines and insta captions and, admittedly, the jury’s still out on this one.

Chestnut

Brunette is undeniably the hottest hair colour of the year. As we move away from the harsh blondes in the colder seasons, some of us gravitate toward richer, warmer tones in brunette ─ our favourite shade being chestnut. (Flashback to the late nineties Bollywood flicks with women sporting luscious chestnut manes that always seem to blow and frame their face in a romantic manner.) More recently, this colour is worn by Ashley Graham, Lana Del Rey and Emily Ratajkowski.

Cool Brunettes

The alternative to the above is a cooler shade of brunette with lighter brown undertones. Cool brunettes are having a serious moment in the celeb circles, as seen on Kaia Gerber, Jessica Alba and Kate Middleton. We love them all-year round because they’re so easy to achieve and even easier to maintain once done.
