Huawei Mate 20 Lite Smartphone Review

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite is finally hitting South African shores and is set to launch on the 16th of October 2018. To date, this is the one of the only smartphones which features a 20 MP + 2MP camera setup, a Kirin 980 chipset on the PRO model and a 710 processor on the Lite.

This is exciting news for all you instabaddies, bloggers and aspirational influencers, as this will be the first smartphone to launch with a 7nm chip on an Android device.  It also comes with a 6.3 AMOLED display which is bigger than its 5.9inch predecessor, as well as a screen resolution of around 2244 x 1080.

It was also leaked by XDA that the Mate 20 Lite would have a 18:9 ratio with a tiny water drop notch at the top.

If you’re looking to buy the new Huawei Mate 20 Lite in South Africa, then listen up, we’re about to show you what we were able to do with this amazing mobile device…

To answer the obvious (and most important) question: Yes, the camera of the Huawei Mate 20 Lite is that amazing. So much so, that we were compelled to use it as the main tool in a mini photo shoot that we did last Wednesday. We won’t get into the nitty gritty of camera specs again, but we can vouch that it does, in fact, have all the makings of a professional camera and offers a high-definition picture.

This smartphone comprises of an attractive and all-encompassing display and some impressive dual-camera tricks that we really enjoyed playing with ─ specifically, the AI feature. Like digital cameras have been doing for years with their auto settings, the Huawei Mate 20 Lite will read the scene and adjust to the appropriate setting automatically ─ Cool right?

Considering that we had three different scenes to shoot, the rear camera delivered outstanding results. See below:

In addition to the spectacular rear camera, the Huawei Mate 20 Lite’s front-facing camera also has a super-sharp 24MP sensor and a 2MP secondary lens for depth information. This is the kind of thing you expect to see on the rear of a phone, so it’s really great for capturing those high-def selfies we all love.

Speaking of selfies, the phone also encompasses a nifty face-unlock system that allows you to unlock your phone without the use of password encryption or fingerprint authentication.

In summation, this mobile device is nothing short of convenient and easy to use. It definitely lives up to its online praise and captures a brilliant picture ─ and that’s all that matters, right?
