My July with Zando

I’m not one for online shopping – I find it daunting and almost ruinous to my shopper well-being. However, when I got the opportunity to shop the Zando site for some goodies for the month of July I got to experience something I hadn’t expected: freedom.

Freedom to choose. Freedom to splurge. Freedom to buy what I want, at my convenience with absolute peace of mind. I didn’t quite go crazy, but I did spend a little more than I needed to. Among other items, I bought two essential pieces that I had been considering for the season but wasn’t sure where I would find them. The two items I’d like to focus on are my crew-neck sweatshirt and a pair shoes. I’ll start with basic concepts behind buying them and talk you through how I wore them.

The Klevas crew-neck in red

One can never have enough crew-necks. Their versatility lends them to most wardrobe looks. You can dress them up for evening, dress them down on weekends or add them to your workwear rotation as a dressy casual piece. I selected red because a) I don’t have a red jersey, so I was ticking that off my shopping list, and b) it’s always a good idea to warm up your wardrobe in winter.

The Crouch lace-up flatforms in black

First things first, these are actually ladies shoes, but then again, I’m not too concerned about that. My biggest challenge was understanding the sizing differences. The fact that women’s shoes are made a size (sometimes two) smaller than men’s shoes means that if you wear a UK size 10, you would need to buy a women’s UK size 11. (Not that they make a women’s UK size 11 from what I know.) Back to the point – these shoes are awesome! They are comfortable, trendy without dating, and provide a great opportunity to leverage their good looks in multiple outfits.

Get the look

When wearing a brightly coloured piece on your upper body it’s always good to keep things neutral in order to allow it an opportunity to pop. With my look, I took the Klevas crew-neck sweatshirt (in a larger size than my normal jerseys) and mixed it up with white denims. This allowed for the colour to stand out and become the statement of the ensemble. I finished off the look with my Crouch flatforms, giving my look a much needed trendy edge without being too forced.

Look out for my August look coming soon. Be sure to send us your July looks to compare notes. Feel free to also suggest looks for me to try and let’s maximise our Zando wardrobes.
