If 2018 was the year for tiny sunglasses, then 2019 is undoubtedly the year for hair accessories. From Paris to New York and all over the ‘gram, you’ll find hair candy of all variations, in all sizes and (good news) for all hair types. It’s safe to say that we’re all a little more than obsessed with this trend, here are our favourites.
Hats
Meghan Markle has us lusting after wintery hats and embellished berets. While 2 billion people around the world watched Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, we were swooning at the guests’ choices in fashionable headwear. Hats with fascinators, hats with silk scarves, big hats, tiny hats, colourful hats, chic hats, eccentric hats ─ we want them all!

Scarves
While A$AP Rocky’s rendition of the babushka look was truly inspiring, we’ve decided to adopt a more mainstream approach to scarf styling. Whether you’re opting for the printed variety or a sheer delight, we suggest that you style your hair into a loose ponytail and twist a scarf around it for a classy finish to any outfit. If you’re feeling particularly sophisticated, you could even tie your scarf into a big black bow to round out the perfect messy topknot.
Top tip: this only works with square scarves and neckerchiefs.
Scrunchies and bauble hair ties
Every year, something ‘new’ from the ‘90s creeps back into fashion and this year, we welcome back scrunchies and bauble hair ties. Available in various textures, colours and sizes, the statement hair tie is a great way to accessorise a messy bun or to add that necessary pop of colour to your ensembles without resorting to anything flashy. The Parisian girls style their scrunchies with a classic blazer and, of course, a striped tee for the ultimate minimalist finish.
Headbands
Borrowing from the scarf trend, we have also seen an uptake in scarf-knotted headbands and their likes on fashion blogs. Scouting for the ultimate solution to a bad hair day? Stick a headband on your head, sis! If you’re after a high fashion finish, may we suggest the velvet plush Alice band? It’s going to be huge this year, take our word for it.

Slides & Clips
Pearls are having a major moment in 2019, so take note! If quirky and untamed is your jam, then go big with embellished or metallic clips to decorate each side of your middle part. For a sleek finish, wear multiple clips and slides all at once with a slick wetlook for the ultimate Hollywood appeal.
