Shoe Trend: Velvet Boots

Finally, the extent of your velvet experience won’t only be rooted in sitting on that questionable couch that one time. Now you get to wear it and also get in on one of the biggest fashion trends this season with the velvet boot. As seen on some of your favourite style stars, from the Kardashians, Hadids, and some real celebrities as well, there’s no doubt this luxe style is having a huge moment in fashion right now.

Winter, though torturous and unforgiving, always calls for textured ensembles, whether comprised of chunky knits or adorably fluffy accessories. However, in 2017 it’s all about sultry, soft velvets. Thankfully the boots make it easy to incorporate this trend into your outfits without you looking like you’ve covered your body in glue and fallen into a suede factory, which, let’s be honest, has happened to the best of us.

You can create dazzling looks with the various styles available, like pulling on a sassy pair of thigh-high boots with a tee dress for a look that says you’re with the band, even if you’re still not quite sure who they are. Or you could team a blue mid-calf pair with distressed denims and a wrap blouse to perfectly encapsulate how much you love asking for almond milk when ordering coffee.

Metallic pairs combine two big trends all in one gorgeous package, plus the eye-catching design is sure to become your go-to if your last Instagram post didn’t bring in enough likes. Even your laundry day attire, i.e. leggings, longer-length tee and a bomber jacket, could become an ‘off-duty model’ type of aesthetic when you don a shinier pair of velvet boots.

Obviously the millennial pink, block heeled variants are a big winner as well, and might become the easier choice when you’re trying to decide between avo toast and a new pair of boots. You can rock these booties with a pinafore dress, tee and stockings for a look that’s ideal for that Tinder date.

If the soft-to-the-touch shoes aren’t quite as extra as you desire, you can still find happiness in a pair that shows off embroidery; the patterns that seem to be most popular include romantic florals and otherworldly starry skies. Failing to get that specific pair, you could just buy a plain one and finger-draw flowers and stars onto it because velvet does that thing – you know, that thing.
