My Winter Favourites

I am a firm believer in warm weather and sunshine, but right now we are getting some major cold weather here in the Western Cape. The only thing that makes it bearable for me is getting to bring out my favourite winter clothes. And I have to admit it is kind of fun to dress up in more than just a shirt and shorts for a change.

I have been expanding my horizons in an effort to add to my closet, so I browsed the site and picked out some of my favourite items, which you hopefully will like, too. I love a neutral, moody colour palette for winter outfits so black, grey, khaki tones are my go-tos. I always try to build up my wardrobe with some staple pieces that you can mix and match together, so even on the days when you can’t decide what to wear you just mix up some of these pieces and you’re good to go. You really can’t go wrong with your outfit choice when you stick to a set colour scheme.

Velvet is one of my favourite fabrics for winter this year. It instantly winter’s sombre, grey days. It is a great fabric because you can introduce it in a small way as with the khaki boots below or you can mix several pieces to perfectly nail the luxe look. Throw on some velvet with a pair of black denim jeans for a dressed down look or dress up with a full velvet-on-velvet outfit by pairing something like the boots and off-the-shoulder dress shown below.

My absolute favourite item of this collection is the black aviator coat because it pairs effortless with every other item on this list. It is a great alternative to the basic wool coat and adds some grunge to your winter wardrobe. Wear a cosy big jumper and add this jacket and you are good to go to survive the cold winter breeze. Stay warm & happy shopping!
