Zando Tshwane 10s Tournament

Spring isn’t the only thing round the corner. Zando Tshwane 10s is back with a bang, the 25-26 August at Harlequin Club in Pretoria, this time headlined by yours truly, Zando. For those who’ve been previously,  keep reading to get pumped for this year’s instalment of the ‘Social Olympics’, and if you’ve never been keep reading to get the lowdown on what to expect over the late-August weekend celebrating sportsmanship and entertainment in epic proportions.

“Zando Tshwane 10s is a social event second to none”

As a sports-music festival whose reputation precedes it, the Zando Tshwane 10s is a social event second to none conceived by rugby greats Bob Skinstad and Robbie Fleck, offers tons of fun for you and your mates, or your significant other. Drawing players and supporters from around the globe to a colossal entertainment experience that no one dare miss, T10s offers a little something for everyone, regardless of your sporting preference or age. It’s also a neat excuse to get out with while you take in all the action and festivities from one of the fields on-site, or beer gardens (yes, you read that right).

This year you can expect more of the same in the rugby line-up, which also has an opportunity for the ladies to get involved. Also on offer are netball matches, which, thanks to last year’s interest, will have a greater presence this year. In the same vein the greatly underestimated action around lawn bowls (with a laugh or two) and five-a-side soccer, which is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Rounding out the rest of the line-up is squash, an equally active option open to the nimble and tactical, and dodgeball brought to you by Dodgeball SA and Rush. Entering a team gets you a weekend pass, drinks vouchers, 10s merchandise, and even travel deals and massages and strapping. Diehards, be sure to look out for Derek Hougaard, Akona Ndungane, Danie Coetzee,  Ethienne Reynecke and Gcobani Bobo. And if you’re a UFC fan, you’ll have a chance to meet Garreth “Soldierboy” McClellan. Joining in, too, and just in time for Women’s Month, is the Tuks women’s rugby team.

In addition to the full sports line-up there are ample music acts to jam to and enjoy over a few drinks, so be on the lookout for your favourite artists, which this year includes Bok Van Blerk, Francois Van Coke, Majozi, Arno Jordaan, Appel, DJ VIND , and the Weiveld DJs.
