How To Dress As a Freelancer Working From Cafes or Restaurants

Last week you would have seen my Zando clothing haul video which included one full outfit & two handbags. My idea for these items is to show you how I style them for a simple cafe work day. As a new addition to the freelance lifestyle I thought I’d share a few tips that I’ve learnt along the way with regards to fashion when you’re working from cafes or restaurants.

1. Opt for a comfortable outfit

I do love working from home but sometimes I need a change of scenery and a cafe buzz to really put my head down and concentrate. You’d think that it could be distracting to work in a cafe but I find that I work well surrounded by the smell of coffee & other people typing away on their laptops. Because I can’t quite leave my house in pajamas I opt for an outfit as close to it as possible. These New Look cropped pants are perfect because they’re stretchy & comfortable but still make me look put together. I paired that with a retro Levi’s tee to add some colour & then threw on my wonderfully comfy adidas Gazelle’s.

2. Smaller is sometimes better

Am I the only one that wants to carry around a million things in her handbag on the off chance that I’ll need them? Yes? No? Because of this I’ve chosen a smaller day to day handbag to restrict how much I carry around with me. This Fiorelli Beaumont Tan Satchel is perfect because it can fit the essentials like my purse, sunglasses & keys but I can also take along a few extra makeup items to touch-up throughout the day. Having a small handbag is helpful when you’re working in a cafe because you take up less space and you have less to look after. And let’s be honest it’s nice not to feel like I’m carrying around a ton of bricks in my handbag.

3.Be prepared

Since my husband stole my laptop bag I’ve opted for something a lot better looking and although it is supposed to be a handbag I’ve found another use for it. I love this U topia Slouch bag because it fits my 13” MACBook Pro in it and has compartments for my harddrive, earphones, charger & weekly planner. What I like to do the night before is pack my bag to make sure that I’m prepared for a productive day. Another benefit of this bag is that it looks good!

I hope this has given you a few simple tips on how to be productive while working from cafes. All of the items I’ve spoken about can be found on the Zando site and I hope you’ve gotten some inspiration from this very simple look.

Ps, if you watched my haul & you’re wandering which pair of shoes I kept, I ended up choosing the pink ones because I could pair them with more outfits in my wardrobe. Check out my Instagram if you want to see what they look like on.
