What is My Bra Size?

Lingerie shopping can be a daunting task when you don’t know where to start or how to go about shopping for the right size – We know. Often the ratio from cute to comfortable rarely aligns and don’t get us started on those strappy contractions that no one actually knows how to assemble – We’ve all been there. So how do you shop for the perfect bra?

The golden key is to shop the right size.

More than often, women buy the wrong bra size simply because they haven’t bothered to find out what their size actually is. For those of you who actually bothered to get a clue, we salute you! For those who haven’t, pay attention.

So how do you know that you’re wearing the wrong bra size?

There are many ways to tell that you are wearing the wrong bra size. For starters, if the underwire is stabbing you in the breast (ouch!), if your cups runneth over and if the band rides up or shifts when you lift your arms, then the bra is too small. Conversely, if the straps are slipping off and you are able to fit two fingers beneath your cups when wearing them, then the bra is too big.

So where do we start on finding the perfect fit?

Measure Your Bands

Take a measuring tape and span it around the circumference of the area right below your bust. Make sure that the tape is level and relatively snug around the area and thereafter, take your measurement. If your measurement is a fraction or an uneven number, we suggest that you round it off to the next highest even number.

Measure Your Bust

Wrap the measuring tape somewhat loosely around the fullest part of your chest (at nipple level). Once you’ve taken your measurement, round it to the nearest whole number.

Do the Math

Here’s where it gets a little tricky. After jotting down each measurement, subtract your band size from your bust size. The difference between these two numbers is your cup size.

1 inch difference = A cup

2 inch difference = B cup

3 inch difference = C cup

4 inch difference = D cup

5 inch difference = DD cup

Sorted? Awesome! Now it’s time to shop according to your size and say goodbye to uncomfortable boob-traps that ruin your day. Find a wide selection of lingerie styles, colours and brands here.
