Editors Choice – Party Season Looks for Men

Party season comes with its own major question…WHAT WILL I WEAR? Well, we’re here to sort out all your problems, except that one time when your colleague said ‘howzit’ as a greeting but you took it as a question and said ‘fine and you?’.

Our Fashion Editor has compiled seven different party looks that will suit various personality types or, for those so inclined, you can take these seven looks and party seven days of the week. We’ve got the style you need, but unfortunately not the hangover cure you’ll want after said party binge.

What’s great about this selection is that it has basics that you can even wear to work or on days you’re taking it easy, too. We wouldn’t recommend you do it the morning after the party, but hey, with a splash of cologne here and there and a cool pair of sunnies that you’re wearing ‘because you’ve got pink eye and you don’t want to subject anyone to that sight’, well, you might just get away with it. So, with clothing for your daily missions and your evening endeavours, you’ll never be without something to wear again ─ that’s a win-win.

Our Fashion Editor takes us through the looks:

Party Look 1:

The black suit should be every man’s go-to ─ the look-good apparel purchase. For a less formal night out, pair your suit with black leather sneakers and a soft, knitted crew-neck top.

Party Look 2:

When dressing for a night out don’t restrict yourself to black, white and grey. Try out deeper shades of blue, green and red which complement each other really well. Keep your accessories to one colour to bind your look together and you’re good to go.

Party Look 3:

Waistcoats need not be confined to the office or best man duty. Take your waistcoat into unchartered territory and wear it with skinny jeans, bold leather accessories and a bomber jacket for that perfect 90s bad boy-inspired look.

Party Look 4:

When suiting up for your evening activities, team a printed shirt (a small repeat print would be best) with a knitted tie. Add fun touches like a playful lapel or tie pin and swap out your lace-ups for a pair of slip-ons. Double points will be awarded for suede or suede detailed slip-ons.

Party Look 5:

Events by the waterside are a great opportunity to wear a crisp and fresh white and blue palette. Modernise a nautical-inspired look by basing it on white jeans and a blue denim trucker (the Canadian tuxedo done right!) and swapping out the traditional boat shoes for a pair of white sneakers.

Party Look 6:

Take your resort shirt from the beach and into the nightlife. Then add a great leather biker jacket, skinny jeans and Chelsea boots to channel Leo DiCaprio in Romeo and Juliet, Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or Harry Styles any day of his life.

Party Look 7:

Watching the sunset from a rooftop or veranda? Start your look with a crisp linen jacket teamed with blue jeans, a tropical printed shirt and tasselled loafers. Finish the outfit with a great pair of sunglasses and the confidence of a man who owns a little island in the Caribbean.
