Welcome to week 3.

How to achieve glowing skin in 6 easy steps

One of my greatest passions in life is skincare! Through my studies of somatology, it became a priority as I began to see the difference in my skin through the use of the knowledge I had gained. Nothing beats the look of radiant, dewy skin. This translates to true health. If your goal is to achieve this look daily you’ve come to the right place. With these 6 easy-to-follow steps you can achieve that glow with a simple and quick skincare routine.

Step 1: stay hydrated

I know you’ve heard it before, but this is one of the most important factors to healthy-looking skin. Dehydrated skin will cause fine lines and a dull complexion. So, grab yourself a water bottle and make sure it’s with you throughout the day.

Step 2: sunscreen

Regardless of whether it’s sunny or not, you should be wearing sunscreen every single day. UV rays damage your skin cells and make your skin’s surface appear uneven, therefore preventing your skin from glowing.

Step 3: moisturise

Dry skin looks dull, so hydrate your face at least once a day with a good moisturiser, one with SPF in it is even better. A great moisturising top tip is adding a dash of olive oil to your moisturiser. Not only is olive oil incredibly moisturising, but it is also full of antioxidants that work to fight free radical damage and protect your skin against harmful UV rays.

Step 4: exfoliate

Exfoliate once or twice a week to get rid of dead skin cells clogging your skin. This will allow you moisturiser and serum to penetrate the skin more deeply and for your skin to look fresh and shine with a healthy glow.

Step 5: fill up on antioxidants

Try incorporating foods that are high in antioxidants to help your skin glow. Dark chocolate (over 70%), blueberries, raspberries and pecan nuts are all high in antioxidants. The antioxidants in these foods have been linked to protecting your skin against UV damage. So next time you’re looking for a snack, make sure to grab those blueberries.

Step 6: get enough rest

It’s called beauty sleep for a reason! Adequate sleep assists the skin in normal skin turnover and exfoliation. When you aren’t getting enough sleep, your skin suffers the consequence, so aim for 7-8 hours a night.
