Directed by Ridley Scott, the almost 3-hour film focuses on the murder of fashion designer Guccio Gucci’s grandson and Gucci heir, Maurizio Gucci.
Lady Gaga stars alongside Adam Driver as Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci. The cast is rounded out with Oscar winners and nominees, Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek and Jared Leto, who is almost unrecognizable!
The movie started getting a lot of buzz when on-location pics of Driver in his off-white cable-knit sweater and Gaga in her jewellery-heavy, 80s-inspired ski look started circulating on social media. The looks were impeccably crafted, of course, the fashion skyrocketed.
Looks from the film, and the real-life scandal, span decades. Costume designer, Janty Yates, created 500 costumes for the film and Gucci even granted her access to the Gucci archives!
We are in love with the sequins, platforms and metallics from the heady disco days of the 70s and the (faux) fur coats, yellow-gold bling with tons of gems and bold eyeshadow of the 80s. Of course, tailored suits and Gucci’s signature loafers keep the tone of the film authentic and utterly mesmerizing
