How would you describe your style?
Simple, my personality is big enough I don’t need my clothes to talk too loudly.
Do you have a style/fashion icon?
No, I don’t know fashion that well to have an icon.
Do you think a lot about how you project yourself on social media?
Yes, I project myself as truthfully and honestly as possible. It doesn’t matter how hard it is to say it, I say it.
What would you like your bio to say in 20 years’ time?
Changed many lives, continues to change lives and influencers people positively.
What do you wear when you need to walk into a room and feel confident?
I will wear a black bag and walk into a room, my clothes don’t have to do shit. I’ll walk in there naked and feel confident.
You travel often, what’s one grooming product you cannot leave behind?
What’s your favourite fragrance?
Invictus Men Paco Rabanne, every time I spray it I am victorious.
Favourite city/country outside of SA?
New York City, it owns my heart, it owns my soul. It makes me a better version of myself. When I am in New York, I sometimes feel when I am in South Africa that I am underutilised and misunderstood, I am truthful, I am out there and I can’t do anything fake and I create content. And I think sometimes South Africa isn’t ready for that “out there” as much as I am out there. A piece of me wishes I was born there. Here, people are quite sensitive, and here, truth, just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you are right, that is not how the world works. And your opinion of me does not affect my reality.
What’s your warm-weather wardrobe essential?
I have beautiful legs, so shorts, a little bit tight, a tee and a cap. My friend Janez Vermeiren introduced me to those NY caps, ah I love them. I think I have at least 9 of them in different colours.
What will you definitely be adding to your wardrobe this spring/summer?
I think I am going to try floral, maybe a button-up floral shirt. Definitely busier pieces, more print.
What makes you laugh?
Truth. In drama and comedy, there’s a fine line between making you laugh and making you cry, it is a very fine line. The more truthful you are and the more you can relate, the funnier it is.
Who makes you laugh?
My mother is hilarious and doesn’t even try.
Where are you planning on taking a summer vacation?
I travel a lot but I am thinking of taking 3 weeks and going back to Cuba and taking some salsa lessons. So I’ll do boxing in the mornings, salsa in the afternoon and then go out dancing in the evenings.
If money wasn’t a factor, what’s one piece you’d buy yourself?
I want to buy my mom a car and a house. She has a car and she has a house, but I want it to be from me.
Is there anything else you’d like us to know about you?
I will change the world one day, and I think people will only really understand my full potential in the future and they’ll look back and go “oh, this is what he was doing”. I want to make giving back as cool as the other side of the pillow. I want cool people to compete about who gives the most money away, who will change lives.
