We’re all in agreement that colour blocking was singlehandedly the best thing to come from the ‘80s era and, following from that trend, we now introduce you to the next best thing: print blocking.

Checks and Plaid
From Clueless to Gossip Girl, the plaid skirt has remained a perennial collegiate fashion icon and will forever be the only acceptable print for back to school parties. This season, we revive this favourite with its just-as-attractive cousin ─ the windowpane check. Mix the two together and you’ve got a bang on-trend outfit for autumn. Take our sound advice by investing in a quality check coat, or opt for a subtle approach by means of mixing your accessories and headwear.
Leopard and Snakeskin
We’ve all collectively lusted after ‘The Nanny Named Fran’s’ slinky leopard dresses and coats and we’re elated to announce that it’s finally the season for it! In addition to that, snakeskin is also making its debut in autumn, with a few accents in neon creeping through. Our advice to styling these prints is to ─ quite literally ─ go wild and pair them together however you see fit. There are no rules in the jungle, after all.
Florals with a twist
Will florals ever not trend? The answer is no. Though the print never ages, different carnations pop up every year and this year we’re welcoming back another favourite from the ‘80s: groovy florals mixed with the winter bloom. Get all the coverage you need from a patchwork maxi featuring different florals and/or the candy stripe. We won’t judge you for it.
Though we’ve made our own pairings in this insert, there’s no unspoken rule against switching them up this season. Gone are the days where we are concerned with what does with what, Autumn 2019 is the official passport to merrily mix and match your prints as much as you like, however you like to.
