It’s that time of the year again, summer is fast approaching and you know what time means. We’re once again counting down those essential summer must haves of 2017!
1. The anklet
Whatever you choose this summer, slide into your sandals, strap on an anklet, and put your best foot forward. Don’t get us wrong, this anklet is nothing like the 90’s kitschy trend with little dolphins or quirky accessories hanging from them. These anklets are sophisticated and very much understated. When choosing you perfect anklet as your must have summer accessory go for a simple design like Ashley Simpson who has been known to decorate each ankle with a barely there gold version. This little trend is quiet but fast emerging.
2. Statement earrings
This trend is much louder than the previous one; it’s bold, bright and big and has been developing for a while now. The statement earring isn’t going anywhere this summer, we want them with fringe, pompom detail, bold, bulky, as we say, they bigger the better. Sometimes making a statement is all about amplifying one element and this can easily be done with a beautiful set of earrings.
3. Crochet Bikini
If there were ever a time to wear a crochet bikini, it would be now. Not only does it give us Coachella feels without us actually being there but at the moment its super trendy and gives you a bohemian vibe, which always does well in summer. The trend popped up on the Tommy Hilfiger spring runway and it painted a perfect picture of a summer vacation, pop on your anklet, a statement earring and necklace and you’re ready to rule the sands.
4. The Fanny pack
Thanks to early adopters like Kendall Jenner and A$AP Rocky, the fanny pack trend is going strong this summer. It’s been in and out of fashion since it originated and ladies and gentlemen it has made a strong return. As we find that this summer is all about throwback clothing, trends from the 70s, 80s and now 90s all made strong returns over the past few seasons. The trend is now to sling the fanny pack across your body or to hang it on the side of your hips, whichever way you might wear it, this trend seems to have captured the hearts and chests of ladies like Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid.
5. The Summer Shoe
When it comes to choosing a summer must-have, it’s not always easy when it comes to shoes. There are a range of different styles that are a hit each season and it’s usually based on your preference and style. So, instead of giving you one specific summer shoe to have this summer, I’ll be giving you a few and you can decide for yourself what it is you just HAVE TO HAVE.
ESPADRILLES
No summer is complete without a gorgeous pair of espadrilles, not only they super cute and comfortable; they elevate your look in an instant. Try and opt for a pair that has ankle ties or some stripe detail on them and you’re guaranteed to always steal the show.
RED SHOES
Red shoes haven’t always been the hottest thing around but during winter the red patent boots made a comeback and this trend seems to be continuing on through summer.
BALLET FLATS
Simple and easy to wear, this trend might not be for everyone. Try and spice up your ballet flat by opting for one with a ribbon detail or anklet straps, it takes something that’s completely dull and adds some life.
BOW-TIE SANDALS
I love bow-tie sandals; they are versatile heels that easily take you from day to night. Shop them in neutral colours or added effect.
BLACK SNEAKERS
They say black sneakers are the new white sneakers, I honestly can’t complain, who wouldn’t mind not watching where they walk and not worrying about pedestrians stomping all over their sneakers. I and the fashion crowd are completely on board with this trend.
METALLIC PLATFORMS
Platforms haven’t gone anywhere, the trends is strong and seems as if it’s going to be for a while. When choosing a platform, go for a metallic hue and add a little sparkle.
FLAT WRAP SANDALS
Flat ankle-wrap sandals and a summery mini-dress are a match made in heaven, one can never go wrong with this never disappointing duo.
STATEMENT-HEEL MULES
Cool girls like Dakota Johnson have been strongly endorsing statement-heel mules of late, this trend might not be for everyone but a little word of advice is extremely important to moisturise when trying this trend ;).
